About Chiron's Cave Holistic
About:
Welcome to my counseling practice! I'm happy to walk alongside you on your journey towards healing and well-being.
Credentials:
I specialize in EMDR and trauma-focused therapy, providing compassionate, evidence-based care to clients across New Mexico through telehealth and in-person sessions in Rio Rancho. Before starting my solo private practice in 2021, I gained valuable experience working for four years in a rural community mental health outpatient setting.
As a board-certified LPCC Supervisor in New Mexico, I also support the growth of future counselors. If you’re an intern seeking clinical supervision, I’d love to hear from you.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from New Mexico State University (2015) and a Master of Arts in Professional Mental Health Counseling from Lewis and Clark Graduate School of Counseling and Education in Oregon (2018).
In addition to my clinical work, I bring a unique perspective as an End-of-Life Doula. As the 2022 President of the Northwest Association for Death Education and Bereavement Support, I have been deeply committed to helping individuals navigate life’s most profound transitions with care, dignity, and understanding.
Focus and Philosophy:
I am dedicated to supporting individuals on their healing journey, with a special focus on members of the LGBTQIA+ community navigating the impacts of trauma. I also provide care for those facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, and existential questions.
My therapeutic approach is rooted in EMDR and trauma-informed practices, empowering you to process and integrate past experiences in a way that fosters healing and growth. Rather than aiming to "fix" or "cure," I emphasize recognizing and cultivating your unique strengths, support systems, and creative capacities. I believe you are already whole and deserving of respect, compassion, and understanding as you move toward a more fulfilling life.
Impact of System Oppression:
I'm invested in remaining attuned to the impact of systemic oppression on mental well-being, and I try to create a safe space for you to explore and heal from the effects of racism, sexism, homophobia, fat-phobia, transphobia, and ableism. In this therapeutic atmosphere, we'll address not only your trauma but also the broader socio-cultural dynamics that shape your experiences.
Holistic and Alternative Approaches:
I welcome clients open to integrating holistic and alternative approaches into their healing journey. Whether it's incorporating spirituality, astrology, tarot, ritual practices, or meditation, we'll collaborate to create a personalized path toward well-being. My therapeutic approach is client-centered, emphasizing your individual agency and guiding you to a place of empowerment and healing. These practice are only used in session when it already fits the clients belief system.
Modalities for Therapy:
In my practice, I draw from a diverse range of therapeutic techniques, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Internal Family Systems, and Mindfulness. The primary modality used in therapy with me is Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). For more information about EMDR, go to the EMDR FAQ section of this website.
